The moment when the Hindu goddess Kali steps on Shiva’s chest is the moment she comes into full consciousness. This story of archetypal energies demonstrates the significance of our waking up from the unconscious way we may sleepwalk through life - distracted, addicted, emotionally over-reactive, into a state of awakened awareness. Another thing we see in this moment, when Kali steps on Shiva’s chest, is the coming together of the masculine and the feminine energies, this too is part of coming into consciousness. And finally we see, through Kali's compassion for Shiva, that awakening the heart is both a product of consciousness and is inspired by consciousness. We see this in the way that Kali moves from the energy of the lower chakras - the out of control emotional expression and abuse of power, into complete compassion. (For more information on the goddess Kali, see this link, http://www.goddess.ws/kali.html)
It is compassion that awakens us and compassion that expands as we awaken. Therefore, if you are ready to hasten your transformation process, focus on what stirs your heart by making a daily practice of the following: when you rise in the morning, spend a moment of gratitude for the sun rising and the earth turning, when you feel stuck or down, bring into your mind's eye one who is easy for you to love, when with loved ones, be mindful of allowing yourself to feel love fully and let it flow. Each of these actions support the process of awakening. It is also true that the more awakened or fully conscious you are, the more you are living from heart consciousness,
as our heart center is the home of the Higher Self. When we are living life with greater consciousness we have less and less need to function from the lower chakras of the personality. We can begin to release fear consciousness where we experience a great deal of emotional reaction, and shift into living from our Soul - consciousness, this is the realm of the multi-dimensional self. In Soul - consciousness we can begin to release the limiting beliefs that we have of our physical bodies; because in Soul-consciousness we tap back into the power of our pure potential. When living from the multi-dimensional self, we are living life in the fast lane when it comes to our thoughts creating our reality. It is here that we really get to see the power of our beliefs, because if we believe we are unlimited, then we are unlimited. This is true in our current three dimensional reality as well, it’s just a lot less obvious, because the reaction time is so much slower. However, as we move into our multi-dimensional self, life’s lessons speed up. As a matter of fact, they happen in real time - as you are aware of them, they are unfolding. It feels a bit like human development, our familiar path, in that we continue to experience, then become aware of our experience, and integrate the lesson. It sounds a bit dramatic perhaps, "becoming your multi-dimensional self!" However, much of the time, it just feels like normal development. Example: You feel angry or over-reactive about something, you recognize this and thus ground yourself, steady your emotions and send a loving message to yourself, thus, opening up your heart center. Notice how this example is also a little microcosm of the Kali story above. It is a cycle: Let’s break it down a little and notice some of the finer details of the internal experience …. Something triggers you, and you feel a whoosh of emotions and drop into a lower vibration in which you are less conscious and more reactive. Recognizing that you are triggered is the moment of re-awakening and moving into your heart center. From the heart center you can offer compassion to yourself to calm and soothe yourself. It is in this self soothing that we shift from a reactive child state back into our wise adult, integrated self. From this place of integration we are able to offer true compassion to others as well, a further expansion of consciousness. The journey to becoming the multi-dimensional self is a process of moving through layers and breaking through old patterning of thought forms, behaviors, emotions and reactions. As we break through these layers we expand vibrationally, freeing ourselves and raising our frequency. This
cycle also has a back and forth or ebb and flow energy, which is the yin and the yang or the feminine and the masculine weaving together to form a whole. The feminine energy is in the moments of pause, feel, soften, flow and contain. While the masculine energy is found in the action components of the story where we want to push forward, fight, dominate, do. Both energies are necessary for growth. We are usually more comfortable in one than the other, however, allowing a rhythm of ebb and flow between the two which feels natural for you is the perfect balance for growth. The more you bring these diverse energies into balance within yourself, and get them working to support each other by supporting you, the stronger and clearer you feel, the higher your frequency rises, and the more light you bring into this world. The final gift of Kali I’m going to mention here is that she is definitely her own person. She resembles nobody else, and she has no demonstrated need to fit in. Kali is unapologetically herself, authentic and whole, and is by no means playing small or acting less than. This is a great hint for us since we are using this story as a stepping stone into understanding the movement into our multi-dimensional self. Coming out of hiding is a necessary part of our process of becoming! Perhaps you’ve noticed lately that you feel a sense of awe or excitement around folks who are more ‘out there’ with being their own wacky selves, whatever that may be … Perhaps you’ve felt that heightened vibration within yourself, maybe you’ve had moments of being compelled to step out in new ways, a greater sense of inspiration or call to action? It’s all part of the process. We begin to see ourselves as expansive beings of light, not limited to our physical bodies as our ego identity would indicate. Part of this call to be your own unique self is the breaking down of the ego barrier. This awareness encourages us to step more fully into the gifts that we bring into the world and offer them openly. One of the old patterns we’re smashing through here is this process of playing it small, acting or believing that we are less than. Stepping into the fullness of our being, encourages us to own the magnitude of our talents, strengths and abilities! Yes, it can be a bit frightening, but it is also true liberation!
