Integrative Breath Therapy

Integrative Breath Therapy is…

a highly personal, experiential process that uses breathing techniques to clear out physical, mental and emotional blocks or stressors. We often learn in childhood to unconsciously suppress our emotions by tensing muscles and restricting the breath. Over time this protective process becomes automatic and more chronic, sapping us of our range of emotional expression. We can even lose the capacity to experience and express positive feelings such as love, joy and pleasure.

Integral Breath Therapy consists of a variety of circular conscious connected breathing techniques that trigger a natural process of cleansing and purifying in both the body and the psyche. This combination of deep relaxation, openness of the body and mind, and increased oxygen intake tends to dissolve everything that stands in the way of the body’s natural healing processes. It is both art and science. The art is about surrendering, allowing the breath to loosen the mental and physical defenses that stand in the way of our harmoniously functioning mental, emotional and physical bodies. The science is about techniques that support the surrendering through adjustment of the breath, and learning to relax into the process.

Breath therapy is beneficial for personal growth and development, stress management, spiritual unfoldment, and is a terrific adjunct to psychotherapy.

“Breath is the bridge which connects life to consciousness, which unites your body to your thoughts.”
